FAQ

Everything you're wondering. Answered straight.

The questions St. Louis property and facility managers ask us most — with the honest answers. Still curious? Ask us directly.

Service

How service works.

Do I need to call every time it snows?
No. Once you're on a Strickland plan, our 24/7 storm desk monitors St. Louis weather and dispatches crews automatically whenever snowfall reaches your service trigger. You never place a service call — your lots and walks are simply clear before the business day starts.
What is a “service trigger”?
Your trigger is the snowfall depth that automatically starts service — set in your contract — typically 1–2″ on Seasonal and Per Occurrence programs, with continuous Zero-Tolerance coverage for critical properties like medical campuses.
How fast do you get to my property?
Crews are staged before storms begin and routes start rolling the moment triggers are met. Overnight snow is cleared before your business opens, and every contract includes a written response window. Because our routes are capped by drive time, response stays fast even at the peak of a storm.
What happens during a long, all-day storm?
We make multiple passes. Seasonal and Per Occurrence programs include return visits throughout the storm to keep pavement passable, with a final full clean-up after snowfall ends. Zero-tolerance commercial sites are worked continuously.
Do you clear sidewalks and steps, or just plow?
Both. Dedicated sidewalk crews hand-shovel walks, steps, porches and entries, then apply de-icer. On commercial sites, ADA routes and building entrances are priority zones on every visit.
Quotes & Contracts

Money questions, straight answers.

How much does snow removal cost in St. Louis?
Price depends on the square footage of pavement and walks, your service trigger, site complexity and the ice management scope. There's no public rate card — we quote each property individually, free and in writing, usually within one business day. Compare the three programs on our programs page.
What's the difference between Per Occurrence and Seasonal pricing?
Per Occurrence bills one flat rate per storm, so your cost tracks the winter's snowfall. Seasonal is one fixed price for unlimited qualifying service from November through March — total budget certainty regardless of how much it snows.
When should I sign up for the season?
Before November. Routes are capped by drive time, and the best placement goes to early signups. Late-season requests are accepted only when route capacity allows, at peak-season rates.
What if it barely snows all winter?
On a Per Occurrence program you simply pay less, since billing follows actual service. On a Seasonal contract you've bought certainty — a fixed cost and guaranteed route placement no matter what the winter brings. We'll help you pick the model that fits your risk tolerance.
Commercial

For property & facility managers.

Do you use subcontractors?
No. Every Strickland crew member is a W-2 employee — trained, uniformed and background-checked — and every truck, loader and brine rig in the fleet is company-owned. Your property is never brokered out to a third party.
Do you provide certificates of insurance (COI)?
Yes. Strickland is licensed, bonded and insured with $2M+ general liability coverage, and we deliver COIs — with your entity named as additional insured — before the season begins.
Can you handle zero-tolerance properties?
Yes. Our zero-tolerance program provides continuous storm coverage for properties where pavement must stay clear at all times — hospitals, senior living, 24-hour operations — including hourly walk re-treatment and pavement-temperature monitoring. See commercial service levels.
Do you document service for liability protection?
Every visit generates a time-stamped service log with GPS data, materials applied and before-and-after photos, archived for the full liability window. If a slip-and-fall claim arrives months later, your records are already complete.
Your Property

Protecting what we plow.

Is your ice melt safe for pets and concrete?
We offer pet- and concrete-safe blends on request — standard for HOAs, senior living and pet-friendly properties. Our crews are also trained to match materials to surfaces, protecting new concrete, pavers and landscaping. See our materials guide.
Will plowing damage our pavement, curbs or landscaping?
Protecting your property is one of our four operating rules. We map and mark curbs, islands and edges before the season, match cutting edges to the surface, and stack snow only in planned zones. Any rare turf or fixture damage is documented and repaired in spring at our cost.
